Not much is known about Mitchell Patison apart from she was born in Edinburgh, probably named after her grandmother Mitchell White, daughter to Rev John Patison of Bristo Street, Edinburgh. She may have lived and ran a school for Girls at 25 Albany Street, Edinburgh. She moves with her sisters to London c1820s. She dies at 4 Grenville Street, Brunswick Square, London, her niece Janet Murray Ogilvie also died at this address in 1831 so it is likely that this is the family residence of Ogilvie and Patison families She was buried at St Mary, Newington, Surrey also the burial place of sister Christian Ogilvie (Patison) and her niece Janet Murray Ogilvie.
