Notes | ||
Mary was born in 1824 to Sir William Ogilvie and Cathrine Hughes. It’s likely that she was illegitimate, but she was later baptised with her siblings in 1827 every years after their father's death.
It seems that Mary ends up in the Trades Maiden Hospital, Edinburgh which was a boarding school for daughters and granddaughters of decayed craftsmen. In Mary’s case it wasn’t her father or grandfather who was the craftsman but her mother's husband George Davidson who was a weaver. Mary died in the Trades Maiden Hospital aged 14 years and is interred at Greyfriars Kirkyard in 1838. |
