Notes | ||
Not much is known about Margaret Patison apart from the fact that she was born in Edinburgh, the daughter of Rev John Patison of Bristo Street, Edinburgh. She may have lived and ran a school for Girls at 25 Albany Street, Edinburgh. She writes to Lord Melville mentioning the service of her late uncle Mr Bain Whty and requestioning a cadetship in the East India Company for her nephew Sir William Ogilvie, Bart. Her efforts to gain Sir William the cadetship seem to have been for not because he isn't listed in their register. She moves with her sisters to London c1820s. She dies at 3 Jubilee Place, Chelsea. The witness to her death is Sir William Ogilvie Bart her nephew. It is thought that she may have looked after William after his mother’s death. She was buried at St Luke’s, Chelsea.
