John Patison (1760?-1825) was a Assessor for the City of Edinburgh and an Advocate. He also acted as secretary to the Scottish Military and Naval Academy which was attended by his nephew Sir William Ogilvie Bart. He married Mary Brown daughter of Rev. James Brown of New Greyfriars. He died of old age at 16 James’s Square, Edinburgh. St James’s Square was Category B listed but demolished in 1969 (canmore.org.uk). He was laid to rest in St Cuthbert’s kirkyard with no headstone.
