Notes | ||
Elizabeth Louisa Grange, born in 1804 in St. Petersburg, Russia, was the cherished daughter of James Grange Esq, a Senior Clerk at HM Treasury, and Mary Godwin Cameron, the daughter of Charles Cameron, a distinguished architect in the esteemed service of Catherine the Great of Russia.
The early life of Mary remains shrouded in mystery, and she chose to embrace a life of independence, never entering into the bonds of matrimony. In the historic year of 1841, we find Elizabeth Louisa residing alongside her sisters, including Augusta, and her husband, the esteemed Sir William Ogilvie Bart, at Grove Lane, Queen's Row, Lambeth, Surrey, England. A decade later, in 1851, Elizabeth Louisa once again shares her days with her brother-in-law, Sir William Ogilvie Bart, and Augusta, in addition to her unmarried sisters, forming a close-knit family circle. The year 1861 brought a somber note as Augusta was widowed following Sir William's passing in New Zealand. However, the bond among the sisters remained unbroken, and they continued to find solace in each other's company. Elizabeth Louisa outlived her siblings, becoming the last surviving member of the family when she peacefully passed away in 1895 in Croydon. She found her final resting place in the family plot at Nunhead, London. Probate records reveal that Elizabeth Louisa's estate was bequeathed to William Collett Homersham, a civil servant whose worth amounted to £125 10s. It's worth noting that William Collett Homersham's father was a dear friend of Elizabeth Louisa's father and had served as an executor to his Will, solidifying the enduring connections and bonds within their social circle. |
