Notes | ||
Charles was born in 1818 to Sir William Ogilvie and Cathrine Hughes. It’s likely that he was illegitimate, but he was later baptised with his siblings in 1827 every years after his fathers death.
It seems that Charles is brought up by his father's sisters Margaret and Helen Ogilvie a School Teacher in Gamrie. Charles died young at the age of 19 years in 1837 at Gamrie. He is interred at St John's Kirkyard near Gardenstown. His cousin Rev Peter Ogilvie MA placed a headstone for him and his two aunts in Gamrie. It reads: Erected by PATRICK OGILVIE AM from a sentiment of duty, as a memorial of his beloved aunts and cousin, MARGARET OGILVIE, SPOUSE OF WM. NICOL in Gardenstown, who died 19th Feby 1843, aged 66; HELEN OGILVIE, who died 19th March 1842, aged 63; CHARLES OGILVIE, who died 29th Jany 1837, aged 19. |
