Augusta was born to James Grange Esq. of Her Majesty's Treasury and Mary Godwin Cameron daughter of Charles Cameron Architect to Catherine the Great of Russia. In 1839 Augusta married Sir William Ogilvie 9th Baronet of Carnousie at Sutton Parish church by licences. Augusta’s father James Grange grew up with Alexander I of Russia in Imperial Court. Alexander I was clearly fond of James because he awarded him a Russian state pension which was in also paid to his daughter until their deaths.
